Professor John Edwards

Professor John Edwards is a Chartered Building Surveyor, Chartered Construction Manager, and Chartered Environmentalist, widely recognised as one of the UK's foremost authorities on building sustainability, damp and mould diagnosis, retrofit, and building conservation. He holds a Professorship at the University of Wales Trinity St David and is a Director of Edwards Hart Consultants, whose clients include housing associations, property developers, government departments, and heritage bodies.
His career includes senior management at Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service, where as Assistant Director he oversaw an estate of 128 historic sites, managing conservation programmes, facilities, and a direct labour workforce. This breadth of experience, spanning government, academia, and private practice, underpins the authority and practicality that characterises ESC Learning's training.
Professor Edwards has authored numerous publications, reports, and training schemes, and has developed guidance and standards for BSI on retrofitting buildings. He created the first UK retrofit course to deliver a nationally recognised qualification, in partnership with CITB's National Construction College, and personally develops and delivers ESC Learning's flagship qualifications. He currently serves on the BSI Retrofit Standards Task Group, the IHBC Technical Panel, and the CIOB Quality Implementation Group.
