Our live online course takes place from 9:30am – 4:30pm on both days and is hosted by our expert tutor Professor John Edwards.

Bookings usually close 3 days before the course date and you will be given access to our learning platform in the week leading up to your course.

This course covers how to deal with damp, mould and condensation from pre-inspection and building inspection through to reporting and remedial work. Training examples will include dwellings and other building types.

At the end of the course, you will understand the common causes of moisture problems in buildings, the approach to analysis and investigation methods, including equipment.

You will be trained in:

Who Is This Course For?

The Level 3 Award in Damp, Mould and Condensation in Buildings is suitable for anyone who investigates moisture problems. This includes surveyors, retrofit assessors and those designing and implementing works to existing buildings.

Our Course Leader

Professor John Edwards, MA, DipBldgCons, CEnv, FCIOB, FRICS, IHBC will deliver our Level 3 damp and mould qualification. As a Chartered Building Surveyor, Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Construction Manager, Building Pathologist and Professor of Practice, Professor Edwards will draw upon his education and training experience spanning over 30 years.

Professor Edwards is a practising independent surveyor in private practice and Director of Edwards Hart Consultants. He began defect investigation, including moisture analysis and monitoring in 1981. His experience in sustainable refurbishment and energy efficiency retrofit spans thousands of buildings.

Professor Edwards has led in the development of industry best practice, undertaking research and contributing to the development of standards and guidance. He serves on expert panels and BSI committees, helping to shape professional and technical standards within the built environment.

Certified to work on traditional and historic buildings, Professor Edwards is acknowledged as an expert by heritage bodies (certified/accredited by RICS, IHBC, CIOB).

Bookings and Cancellations

📧 Requests and Acknowledgements
  • All rescheduling or cancellation requests must be sent via email.
  • Clients are responsible for ensuring Environment Study Centre confirms receipt.
  • A written acknowledgement will be sent within 2 working days.
💸 Cancellation and Refunds
  • Cancellations must be in writing and received no later than least 14 days before the event start date.
  • Registration and Quality Assurance Fees cannot be refunded.
  • No refunds for cancellations received after the 14-day window.
  • Fees already paid to a third party are non-refundable.
  • Some courses/events may have different cancellation timeframes—see specific details.
🔁 Rescheduling Policy
  • Each booking may be rescheduled twice, provided the course is available (not guaranteed).
  • Requests must be made by email at least 14 days prior to the event.
  • You will be charged an admin fee of £120 +VAT or the cost of your Registration and Quality Assurance Fee – whichever is higher.
  • Reschedule requests made after deadline will not be actioned, and the full cost will be forfeited if not attended.
  • Rescheduled bookings must be taken up within 6 months and confirmed at least 14-days prior to the new course date, or the full cost is forfeited.
🤒 Sickness Clause
  • If a participant is unable to attend due to illness, a reschedule request may be made with supporting evidence (e.g. a medical certificate or equivalent).
  • Where possible, such requests should be submitted before the course date, but late requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Registration and Quality Assurance Fees cannot be refunded.
  • Rescheduled bookings due to sickness must still be taken up within 12 months and confirmed at least 14 days prior to the new course date.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Emergency Clause
  • If a participant is unable to attend due to a genuine family emergency, a reschedule request may be submitted with brief supporting context.
  • While the 14-day notice period is preferred, late requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • The administration fee may be waived at the organiser’s discretion in genuine cases.
  • Rescheduled bookings due to family emergencies must still be taken up within 12 months and confirmed at least 14 days prior to the new course date.
🫥 No-Show Policy
  • Failure to attend without prior notice will result in forfeiture of the full course fee.
  • No reschedule or refund will be offered for no-shows.
↔️ Transfer Policy
  • Bookings may be transferred to another individual for an admin fee of £30 +VAT, provided notice is given at least 7 days prior to the course date.
  • The new participant must meet any course prerequisites and confirm attendance in writing.
🚫 Restrictions on Attendance
  • Trainers or course designers from other training organisations are not permitted to attend.
  • Bookings linked to other training providers will be cancelled.
  • Registration and Quality Assurance Fees cannot be refunded.
  • Registrations are monitored continuously.

There is no cooling off period for digital products and services.

If booked as part of a group, these terms will apply to all individual affected places.
