ESC Learning, part of Edwards Hart Consultants, has been appointed by the National Trust to develop and deliver bespoke staff training in damp, mould and condensation in traditional and historic buildings.
The appointment recognises ESC Learning’s expertise in building pathology and building conservation, and its understanding of moisture problems in older buildings. The training will be developed and delivered in person by Professor John Edwards, a chartered building surveyor, building pathologist, accredited in building conservation by the RICS and IHBC and one of the UK’s leading experts in the subject.
The bespoke courses will focus on understanding buildings, identifying the root causes of damp and mould, and determining appropriate solutions for the National Trust’s traditional and historic properties.
Professor John Edwards said:
“I am delighted that we have been awarded this contract and look forward to developing and delivering these bespoke courses for National Trust staff. Our training will draw on best practice and our extensive understanding of moisture problems in traditional buildings, helping staff make informed decisions that protect both buildings and the people who use them.”
The contract builds on ESC Learning’s experience of delivering tailored training for organisations, including the Church of Scotland earlier this year. It also builds on its development of the ABBE Level 3 Award in Damp, Mould and Condensation in Buildings and the ESC Learning Level 2 certification in Damp, Mould and Condensation in Traditional and Historic Buildings.
The ABBE Level 3 Award is the UK’s most popular qualification in the subject, with 11 times as many achievements as its nearest alternative. More than 80% of people holding a qualification in damp, mould and condensation hold this ABBE Level 3 qualification.
Alongside bespoke training, ESC Learning offers the Level 3 Award and its Level 2 course for those working with traditional and historic buildings.
Organisations seeking bespoke training in damp, mould and condensation – for traditional, historic or other building types – are invited to contact us to discuss their requirements.
