Last week BSI published their retrofit standard for dwellings, PAS 2035: 2023. This new version means that RICS Members (Assoc RICS, MRICS, FRICS) are now entitled to undertake retrofit assessments, without being a qualified domestic energy assessor. The Environment Study Centre welcomes this change and encourages RICS members who want to take advantage of this opportunity to sign up for the 2 Day Course Retrofit for Older and Traditional Buildings. This course achieves the Level 3 Award qualification, which is required if assessing traditional buildings. Lead course tutor Professor John Edwards FRICS said: “As a practicing Chartered Building Surveyor specialising in the retrofit of older buildings, I know what RICS members need, and they should be delighted to know that this course takes an holistic approach”. With Government support, the course is heavily subsidised in England and offered free in Wales, if learners meet the criteria. Find out more information here.
