As the UK leading training provider in the energy efficiency retrofit of older and historic buildings, the Environment Study Centre is now leading the way in Europe. We are now developing qualifications and learning materials with the European Certification and Qualification Authority (ECQA). This also includes delivering pilot training courses and train the trainer sessions in order that trainers and tutors in other countries can deliver the expert training materials that we have developed.
The Environment Study Centre has always endeavoured to provide top quality training by ensuring that trainers and tutors are experts in their subjects. This development should demonstrate our success in achieving this.
As part of this development, working with Edwards Hart Consultants and the EU funded Pro Heritage project we are providing dedicated expertise, advice and support to the UK partner English Heritage, UK associate partner Cultura Trust and other partners based in Slovakia, Austria, Spain, and Portugal.

Here at the Environment Study Centre, we have one of the leading experts in the energy efficiency retrofit of traditional and historic buildings Professor John Edwards to deliver all these types of courses. A certified older and historic buildings expert, the lead author of BS 7913, the British Standard for work to older and historic buildings, a co-author of BSI retrofit standards (PAS2035 & PAS2038) and author of the Institute of Historic of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) retrofit guidance and over 40 years’ experience which includes periods at English Heritage and Cadw.
