We lead and others follow! The Level 3 Award 2-day course in the retrofit of traditional buildings is now in its 10th year and has been delivered to thousands of learners. It was created by our Director of Studies and Lead Tutor Professor John Edwards, one of the UK’s leading experts in the retrofit of traditional and historic buildings. Working with CITB, Professor Edwards also assisted in the development of the qualification, first working with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), who were the first qualification awarding body to issues the Level 3 Award qualification.
The qualification is a requirement in working to BSI’s PAS 2038 standard for retrofitting non-domestic buildings, and also PAS 2035 the standard for retrofitting dwellings. PAS 2035 was published originally in 2019, with the Level 3 Award qualification published four years before that date. The Level Award qualification is therefore the most established retrofit qualification required by PAS 2035.
For most of the past ten years, the Environment Study Centre was the only training body to deliver this course and achieve the Level 3 award qualification. Having led the way, there are now many training organisations offering the course and qualification. However, we do have learners who already have the qualification, signing up for our course in order to gain knowledge from our leading expert in the subject, Professor John Edwards.
